About
Matt Zumstein, a dedicated litigation defense attorney practicing at Zurich Staff Legal, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of California, Los Angeles, along with a JD from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. While in school, he stood out among his peers as a top student and ultimately earned membership to Order of the Omega and Phi Delta Theta during his undergraduate years. At law school, this commitment to academics also earned Matt Zumstein the title of National Moot Court Top Oralist.
In 2000, he served as a deputy district attorney for the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office in San Jose, California, where he handled a wide range of felony and misdemeanor matters. At Gordon & Rees, he represented and won cases for clients in consumer and product liability litigation. For over 10 years, he was a partner at Ropers Majeski Kohn & Bentley where he leveraged his expertise in insurance defense and business litigation to handle cases that range from corporate formation and dissolution to real estate and class-actions.
In addition to his work at Zurich Staff Legal, Attorney Zumstein has been an active volunteer in his community. Most recently, he spent two years on the Menlo Park General Plan Advisory Committee and was concurrently on the Menlo Park City Bicycle Commission. Prior to this, he spent six years as San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Pro Tem and a volunteer with the Support Network for Battered Women.
